Reigning it In

I drove into the parking lot of Barnes & Noble because I had a little time to spare and before I got out of my car a little white four door sedan drove by which was completely covered with cartoon characters. The drawings were good, but not good enough to have been professionally done, so I figured the owner must have done it himself or with the help of a friend.  How fun is that?!  It struck that chord in me that likes to do crazy, wild things like jump in the frozen lake, buy a motorcycle or get a tattoo.  While dreaming about my possible contributions to the arts I remembered I was sitting in my 'rare' gold mini-van.  There are only 35,000 of them in Woodbury.  My kids and I have mistakenly tried to open a fair amount of these vans in parking lots around the city thinking they were ours.

I guess in some ways my van represents stability and reliability for our kids.  My dream of putting a side car on a motorcycle so I can drive my kids around AND have my dream vehicle is not the most conservative or safe idea I've ever had.  Our mini van also fits our financial priorities.  It's ten years old, but our kids got to snowboard all year at Afton which is more important to us than driving a new car.  So, I guess I'm pretty happy with my balanced approach to life with kids.   And they're not going to be with us forever (approximately 6 years, 191 days before the last one leaves for college).  Until then, I'll keep updating my custom designed Harley Davidson on the website and come up with some more tattoo designs.
