The kids and I went to Walgreens tonight looking for Smart Balance butter and some make up for Jenna.  That's when we saw them. Andy was the first one to spot them.  There was a whole end cap dedicated to them.  They were even on sale!  It was time to buy some Peeps; the yummy marshmallow, sugar coated Peeps.  There's even a new orange color this year, which will work slendidly in our Peep Diorama.  If you follow the world of Peeps you know that every year the St. Paul Pioneer Press has a Peep Diorama contest.  Peep fans all over the twin cities create a scene using their precious peeps and other paraphernalia.  Last year Andy created a scene using an Arnold Schwartzeneger movie.  He called it "The Peeponator".  Apparentley, the judges were not looking for guns and peeps strewn across the diorama bleeding red icing.  But THIS year we have an incredible idea inspired by the olympics.  (For obvious reasons, we will not reveal our creation until the Peep contest is over.)
At the store we poured packages of precious peeps into our cart and made sure to add some extra peeps for our own pleasure.  We will most likely need to buy more peeps before the week is over because my addiction to peeps is stronger than my alcohol addiction.  I've made it six years without drinking.  I've never gone a year without eating my fair share of peeps. I have heard there are support groups for this; Peeps Anonymous, Just Say NO to Peep pushers, Jullian Michaels Push off the Peep Pounds and Purple Ribbons for Peeps just to name a few, but I'm not ready for that yet.  I have come so far as to admit that I have a problem, but I am not ready yet to turn it over to a higher power.  Maybe someday.  For now, I just ate the last peep and I don't know if I can make it through the night without a package of peeps under my pillow so I'll see you next time on the blog.
