Looking for Questions and Comments

I've had several people lately ask me questions about their Mormon friends and neighbors. I grew up in the Mormon church and am now a Christian, so I've been trying to answer as many questions as I can and I decided my blog is a great forum for more questions, answers and comments. The BIG question is, "Are Mormons really Christians?" The answer to this question could and does fill hundreds of pages, but here's my short, sweet answer. A Mormon will call their belief's Christian, but their beliefs don't match any of the other religions which call themselves Christians. For instance, the Catholic Church and the Protestant Church don't agree on a lot of things, but they both believe in the most basic concept that God became a man, Jesus, born from the virgin Mary, died on a cross and came back to life 3 days later and He did this to save us by His grace and there is not anything we can do on earth to earn it. A Mormon believes Jesus died on the cross and came to life, but there are a lot of pieces missing. First, Mormons believe that Jesus is NOT God. He is literally God's son and our brother (long story for later) Mormons believe Jesus died, but his death really only opens the door to heaven. If a Mormon follows all of the rules in their church, they can earn one of three levels of heaven, including the possibility of becoming a God themself. This follows their belief that God was once a man and earned his way to becoming a God. In essence, the God of the Mormon church is not the same God as the rest of the Christian world. Christians disagree on a lot of things, but they all agree that God is Alpha and Omega, Beginning and the End, never changing. Coming from a Mormon background where everything is always changing, knowing God doesn't change is one of my most comforting thoughts.
