Christmas was great at our house. Our cousins stayed with us for a week and then some friends from out of town spent a night with us before moving onto more friends. Johnny got his snowboard and now all three kids have one and I'm hoping it will become a fun family activity every winter since Andy is now working at Afton, they are all in ski club and Johnny's the only one involved in sports outside of snowboarding. My favorite Christmas present was a card Jenna made for me. I used to love her cards because of the cute pictures she drew. This time it was the words she wrote. Knowing we have the great relationship we have is what I've been working for since going into treatment six years ago. Her card was the best Christmas gift ever!
Tonight is New Year's Eve. Jenna has a couple friends over so we rented some movies and we're about to watch them. I bought some sparkling grape juice at Jenna's request. I thought I liked that stuff, but it was horrid! Jenna said maybe it's because I'm used to wine. I said it's been almost SIX years since I've had any. She said she was proud of me...in front of her friends. It's nice to be able to talk about that stuff with her and her friends.
New Year's Eve is always synonymous with resolutions, but I don't make those around the New Year. My resolution was made six years ago; to be a better mom to my kids. So far, I'd say I'm doing a good job. I have plenty of years to go, but I'm excited about the changes I've made so far and I'm excited about the years we have left to make some realy cool memories. So, Happy New Year!
