Yesterday I happened upon something that gave me a huge amount of hope. I know someone who has been through a lot. Her parents divorced when she was young. Her father was violent and her mother was not always understandable. I'm assuming some other things happened to her because she went through a time period when she wouldn't talk. Her psychologist called it voluntary mutism. She would not allow anyone to take a picture of her and when you looked in her eyes, you could tell she'd experienced things no one at her age should have. I saw a little quote she put up recently. The fact that she had written it after having gone through so much is what gave me so much hope. The quote read, "If people look for the good things in life they will find them. If they look for the bad, that is what they will find."
