I was in the car with Jenna and her friend, Sarah. I was asking Jenna if she could help me download a book onto my iPod. She started saying something when she got a text message. It used to really bother me when she would suddenly stop midsentence to read a text, but I don't notice it so much anymore. Probably because I do it too. A moment later she asked what we were talking about when a flock of funny looking birds flew up out of the corn field. We both started questioning each other what kind of birds they were because their wings were so different than anything we'd seen. I decided they looked like Pigeons. Jenna thought I might be right and then reminded me that we used to see pigions all the time in the little crevices in the skyway to the Children's Museum. I laughed because most of the time the kids were more intrigued with the pigeons than the museum. Being that the pigeons we saw at the museum were always curled up in their nests, we decided we hadn't recognized the pigeons in the corn field because we've never seen one actually fly, which is ironic since they are supposed to be those great homing birds flying for hundreds of miles and still find their way back home. It was about this time when Sarah chimed in, "You guys were talking about your iPod." ...Oh! Ya!
That triggered my memory. I saw the book, The Hole in Our Gospel, was available as a free download when I saw my Pastor's blog while I was looking through my e-mail, which I started looking through when I sat down to read through some entry guidelines for a writing contest, which I thought of when I saw my manuscript while cleaning off the kitchen table which I decided to do on my way to the laundry room to wash some clothes which I found on the floor in the living room after I had gathered some other dirty clothes from my bedroom after changing my shirt in the bathroom and deciding to work on the deck because the sander is still in the kitchen and I want to put it away but I can't until I get all the sanding done. etc. etc. etc. That was probably only a half an hour of distractions. I can't imagine what my whole day looked like. Oh, I just got a text, which reminds me that I need to call my friend to answer her question about the leadership summit. I hope I remember by the time I actually dial her number. I still have to hit the post button. Oh look, a squirrel!
