Sometimes I have a hard time focusing. I feel like the dog in the movie, "Up". The dog can talk, of course, because it's a movie. Every time the dog is talking he is interrupted by a squirrel that runs by. Mid sentence his head turns and he says, "Squirrel!" He stares toward the squirrel for a few moments and then goes back to his conversation which he has now forgotten. This week I was thinking about the colors I want to use to repaint my house. As I'm looking through colors, I see a recipe, which reminds me that I should really learn to cook a few things while my kids are still at home, which reminds me that I'm a mom, which reminds me that I'm writing a book about being a mom, which reminds me that I'm working on my second draft. As I pick up my second draft to do some work I see the magazine where I found all the cool paint colors. "SQUIRREL!" Now I'm deciding which wall would make a better accent wall in the dining room. Someone asked me yesterday how long I've been working on my book. I began to tell her that I wasn't sure, but maybe a couple of years, which reminded me of how thin I was a couple of years ago, which reminded me of running, which made me want to look up marathons in the area, "Squirrel!"
