Since I started taking care of the finances in our house, I've been a little more careful about spending money. Sometimes this impares my judgement, such as the following conversation between my daughter Jenna, who is thirteen, and myself. Jenna: "mom, I'm almost done reading my book. Can we get another one?" Me: "Honey, I'll get you one for Christmas." Jenna: "But I'm almost done with this one." Me: "can't you stretch it out five more weeks?" Jenna: "But I really like this book. I can't stop reading it." Me: "Come on, there must be something else you can do besides read! Don't we have xBox and a large screen tv and you could get on facebook once in awhile, right?" Jenna: "Mom, are you listening to our conversation?" Me: "hmm... I guess not."
So, don't lose your perspective during this holiday season! I have to go to the book store!
