Retracting Last Post - Started Census Job

I'm retracting my last post where I decided I was going to make this blog about DBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy. It's great stuff to add to posts when it's relevant, but I can't think of anything to say about it now, so that idea is out.

If you didn't already know, I found another distraction from writing my book; I am working temporarily for the Census for the next month or two going door to door to get people's information that didn't make it to the Census office for whatever reason. I was on Grand Avenue yesterday and forgot how beautiful the homes are in that area.  I absolutely love older homes with lots of woodwork and character.  Driving back to my Woodbury development was like entering the Stepford Wives story.  And the people I talked to were so nice.  I chatted with one woman about her husband from another country where they don't believe in taking out mortgages on homes.  Brilliant!  I wish that was an American expectation.  Wouldn't life be different...  Another woman dispelled some of my parenting fears after we got to talking about teenage boys. She had the same problem I'm having with "motivation" and grades.  After trying everything we are trying she said her friends were right, her son grew out of it and so will ours.  I'm counting on that.  I got to meet a Senior at Macalaster College who is looking forward to graduation and I coincidentally had an address on my list which is a big beautiful home renamed, "Uptown", as it is used for continuous A.A. meetings, some of which I attended a few years back.  All in all it was a fun day for me AND I got paid for it.  But I can't forget to keep working on my book, which I might do today since it looks like it's going to rain.
