When I started yawning at 8:00 p.m. last night I realized I might have made a rash decision in planning to take my daughter to the midnight showing of 'New Moon', but my sister had already bought the tickets and this was going to be a girl's night with my sisters and my mom! Plus, the midnight showing is the only showing that the mom's are allowed to join the teens in howling at Taylor Lautner every time he takes off his shirt. (which was nearly every scene) I was a little wary of Jenna being out that late on a school night, but she is doing well in school and this felt very much like a 'right of passage' for my daughter just like Andy's first hunting trip with 'the boys'.
I have plenty of opinions about the movie, but it wasn't the entertainment I was in it for, (fortunately) It was the time I got to spend with my daughter at an event that doesn't happen every weekend. I got to watch her interact with my sisters, whom she adores and are closer in age to her than they are to me. We shared crazy expensive popcorn and pop, ate some smuggled licorice and spent 20 minutes trying to get out of the parking lot, laughing at jokes that are only funny at 3:00 a.m. I have also racked up several points on the 'cool mom' score board. Well, it's time for me to get to bed. I need to catch up on some sleep and I have to be up before noon!
